Organist Maury A. Castro is whipping up a tour through time in the Hook organs of Sears Chapel and Church of Our Savior.  We will hear these instruments intheir 'period' context, but more importantly, we will hear these instruments as part of vital 21st century music programs at thriving churches.

Maury A. Castro, CAGO, is music director and organist at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Chatham, Massachusetts, where he plays an historic 2-manual, 21 rank, ca. 1852 Stevens (East Cambridge, Mass.) pipe organ, rebuilt by George Bozeman in 1992. He oversees choirs of adults, children, and bells, and maintains an active concert series. He has served in similar positions in California, Michigan, and New York. He holds the Master of Sacred Music in Organ Performance from Boston University (2008). While there, he studied organ with Peter Sykes and choral conducting with Miguel Felipe. Previous organ teachers include Richard Clark and Del Case. He also holds a Master of Divinity from Andrews University.

In addition, Mr. Castro is the Advertising Manager for the American Guild of Organists, which includes overseeing all aspects of print advertising as related to The American Organist magazine, as well as online advertising on the national website.

Mr. Castro is ecstatically married to his wife, Kerén, an elementary school language arts teacher. They have three lovely daughters, Delia, Chiara, and Gabrielle.
